Interface and Interaction

Throughout my time at Massey I have been majoring in music technology which means I am researching and coming up with new ideas about how we as musicians can engage with technology and ways of making sounds.

In my Interface and Interaction course I have learned a lot about designing and building my own instruments and have acquired skills to be able to do so. These include coding, software design, fabrication processes and general learning about how musical instruments interface with musicians and the technology that drives them.

The most enjoyable parts of this course for me has been combining all of this knowledge and building instruments of my own. In my second year the projects were based mainly around MIDI control of digital audio work stations. In my third year we focused on ways of using technology to control instruments that made the sounds.
